Ian Levine went on many of his USA trips looking for old soul records and found a record called "It really hurts me girl" by the Carstairs.
This was the record that so say split the N/S scene as the record was Philly-early disco.
Ian levine wanted to play the newer soul, stroke, disco records and move on ,where Wigan wanted the old soul.. This was the so called SPLIT in N/S..
This is how i remember it at the time but both clubs played many records at the same time..
One thing we must never forget is the the people such as Ian Levine, Russ Winstanley to name a few of many, the N/S scene would probably have died..KTF
